Ottawa Public Library (OPL) has added one more way to find what you are looking for. Introducing Creator Tags, an easy way to search for books, movies, music and more by Indigenous, 2SLGBTQ+, and Canadian creators.
To get started, use the catalogue search bar to find the items you are interested in. If you are using a desktop computer or a mobile device, the catalogue search bar is in the upper right corner of the web page, by clicking on the magnifying glass icon.
How to search using Creator Tags
1. Search catalogue by Subject
2. Use one of the following phrases in the search bar:
- “Indigenous creators”
- “LGBTQ+ creators”
- “Canadian creators”
3. Use the filters on the left side of the screen to further narrow your search. If you are using a mobile device, you can click on the “Filter results” button on the upper left side of the screen.
Why these communities in particular?
Listening to ongoing feedback from library clients, OPL’s team tried to find a way to make finding items by Indigenous, 2SLGBTQ+ and Canadian creators easier. Library clients expressed a desire to access stories by Indigenous, 2SLGBTQ+ creators and Canadian creators that represent their lived experiences and perspectives.
