Spring has sprung! It is time to get gardening and to grow something beautiful! You can participate in seed swaps in some of our branches or attend a gardening program to learn more about how to make your garden thrive.
Seed swaps
You can “check out” seeds at the Osgoode, Vernon, Greely, Stittsville, and Metcalfe Village branches and participate in a free seed swap. Choose from a variety of vegetable, herb and flower seeds to take home, grow and harvest.
Here is how it works:
1. Go to one of the participating branches and pick out what you would like to grow
2. Plant them, watch them grow and enjoy!
3. If possible, collect some seeds from your harvest, dry them and save them.
4. Return some seeds to one of the participating branches to keep the cycle going for next year!
Gardening Programs and Events
If learning from experts and meeting members of your local gardening community is more your style, sign up for and drop by one of our home and garden programs. You can attend talks given by gardening experts, swap plants with your neighbors or find community with other gardeners. Find out about what we have to offer on our Programs and Events page .
These activities and programs aim to connect people though a shared interest in gardening and to support learning about sustainability. Attend one of our programs about gardening at one of our branches and let’s grow!
