Every time someone shares why they love their library, we are reminded: this is the heartbeat of Ottawa.
Some come for job-search help, quiet study space, film streaming, or a new language to learn.
Some come because the library is one of the only places in the city where you don’t need to spend a dollar to exist comfortably.
What we heard times and times again from library visitors sounds like love in its simplest form:
“It feels like home.”
“I learned English here.”
“This place helped me find myself again.”
“I never walk out empty-handed.”
The library is one of the only places where everyone is welcome just as they are.
