March Break for Teens

Unwind from school this March 10-15 with OPL! Choose from a variety of in-person and online programming covering topics from DIY clothing upcycling, cooking or credit counselling to writing and illustrating. Visit our programs and events page to check out all the great programs heading your way:   

  • Get financially savvy with workshops by the Credit Counselling Society who will teach you all about credit (program offered in English). 
  • Always wanted to do a DIY sewing project but you’re an absolute beginner who needs some help? Cosplayer Lady Jessica Harkonnen is offering an online workshop “Sewing for Absolute Beginners” where you’ll learn all the basics needed to start your own project (program offered in English). 
  • Anyone can cook and if you are looking for some easy yet delicious recipes to try then join Radical Eatery as they teach you all about making delicious dips and noodles in an in-person and online workshop (programs offered in English). 
  • For aspiring authors and illustrators, join author/illustrator Rob Justus for a fun workshop that will teach you all about creating immersive worlds, detailed characters, creating story panels and pacing (programs offered in English). 
  • Are you passionate about fashion and the planet? Join Let’s Talk Science for a workshop that will introduce you to the environmental impact of the clothing industry and show you how to turn an old T-shirt into a bag (programs offered in English). 
  • Challenge your thinking by joining the Ottawa Art Gallery for their workshop “Michèle Provost: Darn Logos” where you’ll consider your relationship to logos and consumer culture; are you defined by the things you buy? (Programs offered in English). 
  • Join the Youth Gambling Awareness Program to learn about the ways that gambling shows up in everyday life such as player-pack unlocking, skin betting, e-sports betting, and daily fantasy sports (programs offered in English and French). 

All the programs are for teens ages 13 to18. Space is limited to allow for plenty of communication and interaction between the presenter and participants.
