The first concert of Library Month kicked off at the Cumberland branch in a warm and welcoming atmosphere! Moonfruits delivered an outstanding performance that delighted everyone in attendance. Many gathered at the front to enjoy the beautiful music, while others continued working at their computers, happily nodding along to the rhythm.

The nearly hour-long concert wrapped up with enthusiastic applause, whistles, and shouts of “Bravo!” and “We’re lucky to have you!” As some attendees took photos with the band, children eagerly explored the instruments, discovering the unique sounds of each one.

How do you chill at the Library?

During the concert, our team went around gathering comments from attendees in response to this month’s question: How do you chill at the Library? Here’s what they had to say:

“I like doing puzzles. I come to the Library at least once a week — I’ve got about 52 books on hold and three bags full already! This is my local branch, though I’ve visited around 30 others across the city. For anyone new to the Library, I’d say: find something you love! There’s so much more than books here — I’m still amazed you have 3D printers. We come to Cumberland because it’s close and one of the nicest branches in town. Haha!”

“I’m 13, and I come to the Library with my dad at least once a week. I don’t read as many novels as I used to — now I just pick up random books that look interesting. I just like reading, I guess. I don’t really go to workshops; I mostly come here to hang out and grab some books. If a teen asked me about the Library, I’d say just come and hang out — it’s a really cool place to find stuff you’re into.”

“I’m here with my friend today. I come to the Library occasionally, usually to study or pick up some books I’m interested in. If someone my age was thinking about coming, I’d tell them to do it — it’s super convenient. If you’ve got an assignment and need a quiet place to focus, this is perfect. Plus, there’s a huge selection of books and even video games to check out!”

“I don’t go to the Library that often. I’m just here for a quiet spot. If someone my age wanted to come, I’d say it’s a great place to study and concentrate.”

“I come to the Library regularly. I love attending events and programs, and I often pick up books to read — either here at the Cumberland branch or at Main. Since my accident, reading has helped me a lot; it really helps keep my memory sharp!”
