Monkey Rock Music captured the hearts of little ones on Saturday, October 11, at the Greenboro branch! 185 people in total, including children, ages 3 to 6, joined in the fun with their parents—dancing to the rhythm of the guitar and following the energetic moves led by the Monkey Rock performer. With arms looping in the air, legs kicking high, and baby strollers swaying to the beat, the atmosphere was filled with joy and excitement.
Keeping in tune with the rhythm, Ottawa Public Library took the opportunity to ask participants: “How do you chill at the Library?” Here’s what some of them shared:

“My friend and I were struggling with physics, so we decided to come to the Library to study. I usually come here to study and read. I love fantasy books! I often borrow the first book in a series to see if I like it before buying the whole set. The Library is such a calm and quiet environment — perfect for studying. I love that there are so many activities here. Sometimes, you forget you’re even in a library!”
“I grew up in Ottawa and have had almost the same Library card my whole life. I used to check out every book by my favourite authors. I love fiction — I remember reading all the Madeleine L’Engle books from the Library. It’s always been part of my life growing up, and now, as a parent, I want to share that experience with my kids. Back when I was a student, I loved coming here to find a quiet place to study.”
"I’ve got two little ones at home, and the Library is our go-to spot for books. Even though we’ve got lots of books at home, we love finding new ones every time we visit. My daughter’s into Cambrian animals and graphic novels, and my son’s all about dinosaurs. We read together a lot — they’re total bookworms! My parents passed that love of reading on to me, and now I’m doing the same with my kids."
"I love hanging out at the Orléans branch with my daughter and stepson. They’re big fans of storytime! There’s always something fun to do — from books and computers to cool events. When I need to unwind, I head to the toy room so my daughter can play while I relax with a good book. I’ve always loved how reading opens your mind — that’s the best kind of chill for me."
